Mufasa: The Lion King is a prequel to the origin story to Disney’s 1994 class animation and 2019 Live Action retelling of The Lion King. With glorious African landscapes, stunning effects and enchanting music, the film would explore Mufasa’s rise from humble beginnings to ruler of the pride lands as his son Simba is determined for his cub to follow in Mufasa’s footsteps.

 

Continuing our mission with Disney to bring more culturally relevant brands to Disney’s partner campaigns, we were tasked to bring in authentic multi-cultural brands for this title whilst maintaining the bold & confident tone that was established for The Lion King in 2019.  The objective was to convey the importance of the film and the bold storytelling it will showcase favouring fewer more impactful marketing moments.

Purpose

Our response was Nala’s Baby, a skincare brand founded by British rapper & entrepreneur, Krept alongside his co-parent and influencer Sasha Ellese. The 2 founded the award winning product as a solution to their daughter Nala’s skin problems. Nala’s Baby has since become a force to be reckoned with, shaking up the retail industry with products stocked all over the UK within the likes of Boots, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrison’s to name a few. 

 

Inspired by the movies themes of “Family & Home” Nala’s Baby launched a campaign consisting of a limited-edition bundle of their best-selling Vanilla Cloud range using co-branded “Mufasa: The Lion King” packaging - to be sold online at Boots UK and via nalasbaby.com. The campaign also included a collaborative video advert, a billboard campaign, an influencer screening and a competition on social media.
